“Innovation requires not knowing long enough to learn new things.”
WOW.
Those words from a Harvard Business Review article by Nilofer Merchant were in my feed this morning, and they are simultaneously simple and profound.
I am constantly asked questions in training, in marketing brainstorming meetings, in strategic planning sessions, in the kitchen about what is for dinner… It can be really tempting to try to act as though you know it all, but no one person can know everything. And maybe we shouldn’t.
It is in the space where we don’t know that innovation can flourish.
